PHOTO-GRAPHICS WEEKENDER WORKSHOPS & PHOTO TOURS – Our top photojournalist and photo instructors lead our Weekender Workshops and our Photographic Expeditions to various parts of our world . Here we explore some of the opportunities for you to experience our world from a visual perspective.
TOUR LEADERS - World renowned photographer Garnet McPherson has worked in 17 countries on 4 continents and has a wealth of talent and experience to share. He has taught photography both at Sheridan Collage, and the Media Arts Centre. He has lead photo expeditions for Insight Photo Tours and he now heads up our Photo Tours projects. He is more than ready to take YOU on photo expeditions, both on and off the beaten path. And invites you to join him on a photo trek that you will remember for a lifetime.
ART OF SEEING... Our expeditions and weekenders are designed for small-groups and are not technical workshops but travel opportunities. Opportunities designed for you to put into practice what you have been learning in workshops or books. You will learn hands-on in the field to sharpen your photographic skills. You will learn to develop new ways of seeing, versus looking. When you just look, you may only take snapshots, a mere record. When you see, you can go to a much deeper level. When you take the time to see you can truly connect with your subjects. When you learn how to see and you will begin to capture the spirit of a place, a person, an animal, a flower or a landscape.
ADVENTURE is around the corner for you when you join a Photo-Graphics photo tour and discover new places and special cultures. Experience the spirit of adventure and exploration while developing a better understanding of different cultures. Appreciate with your senses and capture with your lens the infinite natural beauty of our planet and its people.
The objective of a Photo-Graphics Photo Trek is to help you deepen or rekindle your passion for photography. Remember, "The real voyage of discovery lies not in finding new lands, but in seeing with fresh eyes." Marcel Proust (French writer)
NO WORRIES - If you don't have expensive photo equipment (better but not necessary). Many great photographs have been taken with a point-and-shoot camera. Herni Cartier-Bresson only shot with a 50mm lens. What is most important is light and composition and what you see with your eye. Our Tour leader will be at hand to share their expertise and give you advice on how to improve your photography. In fact non-photographers and are also welcome as Focusing on seeing improves any traveler's experience, with or without a camera.
